Our Physician: George Murakawa, MD, PhD
Dr. George Murakawa leads our practice with unparalleled expertise. He completed his B.A. and Ph.D. at UCLA, followed by medical school at Harvard. Trained as a dermatology resident at UCSF, he has taught at institutions like Stanford University, Clinical professor of internal medicine at Michigan State University, chair and residency director at Albany Medical College, chair and residency director at Wayne State University, and currently serving as president of the American Society of Mohs Surgeons (ASMS). Moving to Michigan in 2000, Dr. Murakawa became Chair of Dermatology at Wayne State University where he fostered growth and improvements. Launching Somerset Skin Centre in 2005, he continues providing exceptional care in Troy
During his tenure at Wayne State, Dr. Murakawa made significant strides in research and teaching, contributing greatly to clinical and basic science development. He's certified by leading boards and holds active roles in dermatology societies worldwide. Dr George Murakawa is currently serving as president of the American Society of Mohs Surgeons (ASMS). His specialties include Mohs surgery and complex dermatological conditions. On staff at several esteemed hospitals, he engages in groundbreaking research and has earned recognition for his work on skin infections.
